Common questions
How much does a finished basement cost?
It depends on the size, the ceiling height, whether there is a bathroom, and what is behind the walls. We price it after a site visit, broken down by stage, with allowances listed separately.
You build decks. Why would I hire you for a basement?
Interior work is where the owner started. Before Westwood he spent years at a renovation company, and thirteen in the trades altogether. Framing, insulation and trim is carpentry either way.
Will finishing my basement need a permit?
Often. We sort out what is needed during the estimate and handle the application.
My basement has had water. Can you still finish it?
Not until the water is dealt with. Finishing over it hides the problem behind new walls and it comes back worse. We find the source first.
Do you do painting, flooring or tile?
We stick to carpentry and bring in other trades where a job needs them. If a job is mostly painting or tile, we point you at someone who does it every day.
We live here. How disruptive is it?
If a room or a time of day needs to stay clear, say so at the estimate and we plan around it.
