Common questions

Does my deck need a permit?
It depends on the deck, mostly how high it sits. We tell you at the estimate whether yours needs one, and when it does, we take care of it.
What does a deck cost?
Every job is quoted on its own after we see the site. The visit and the quote are free.
Wood or composite?
Wood costs less to build. It needs a fresh coat of stain every few years, and as it ages the boards can crack and splinter. Composite costs more and needs a wash in the spring. It will not splinter, but it gets hot in full sun and can be slippery when wet or icy. Both sit on a pressure-treated frame.
How long does a deck take to build?
Most decks take one to two weeks on site. A two-storey deck or a hot tub platform takes longer.
Can you fix the deck I already have?
Yes. Repairs, rebuilds, extensions, staining and sealing.
What is the payment structure?
It depends on the size of the job. Typically a 50% deposit and 50% on completion.

Decks built in winter

Decks on screw piles or deck blocks go in through the winter. The deck is ready for the first warm weekend, and the stain goes on in spring.
